Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 review.

LOVED IT!!!!!!

I got home from work around 5:45ish and Ashley calls on the phone. She and Matt are at the theater getting their tickets because they’re nearly sold out for the premiere. The manager told them that they’ve never had as big a premiere before. In fact they have to get tickets for Deathly Hallows p1 as well just to have a seat for the premiere with me. In fact, I was extremely lucky to be seeing it in 3D because if you got 2D tickets you’d have to leave the theater afterwards and hope to find a good seat.

She tells me that there are already people waiting in line dressed as Gryffindor/ Syltherin students and that a whole bunch is walking around the mall. So I feed the buns real quick, get into my Gryffindor uniform (with shorts this time and my HP buttons), and head down to the theater. For the first time it actually felt like those big premieres with a bunch of fans because I was able to debate the series for a while.

At 8pm we were allowed to enter the theater and Ash and Matt made the right choice of showing up then. They were only showing Part 1 in the two 3D theaters and the one I was in was quite full. Ash and Matt had never been to a midnight showing of a film with such a large fan base and found the other fans’s reactions interesting and somewhat funny. I just took in the first film entirely knowing that I’ll never see it on big screen again.

Then it was time for the premiere. It was so bittersweet knowing that it was the last time I would see a HP movie at midnight I almost cried over that thought alone. I will say it was EPIC!!!!! I adored it and it is one of my favorite in the franchise. That is not to say it is without its issues. I’m going to see it again next weekend (Not going this weekend. It is going to be nutty) and will be able to have a bigger picture of the flim. I was in too much awe this time around.

I will say I loved 99% of it. I loathe the whole Tonks/Remus relationship and was glad that part was down played extremely. They should have left out the whole “son” thing though. If Ash hasn’t heard me ranting about the relationship and kid should would have never had known WTH it was about (neither she nor Matt read the last 3 books). I was also glad the romance was kept to a minimum. The movie has left me conflicted though. I’m now a Harry/Luna, Harry/Hermione, & Luna/Neville shipper. I say we go for the four way and fix it all together.

Speaking of Neville…. Where was a giant moment of glory? I was disappointed his glory moments weren’t as big and he was made fun of a bit. I was really looking forward to seeing Neville being the big dame hero he was in the book.

Another thing I’m a bit disappointed is that we still don’ know how Remus , Tonks, and Fred died. I mean Remus is literally dead of the ground again. I’m guessing Fred died from a curse. I think there was a scene with a death eater doing something to him while he was in the corner. Guess he didn’t die from the wall hitting him… The movie was nice and cleared up what happened to Griphook and Lavender. Griphood, Death by crazed Voldie, and Lavender, death by psychotic werewolf.

Speaking of Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes deserves a freaking Oscar for his role. He was completely and utterly brilliant. You could just see Voldemort going crazier and crazier. He was completely amazing. The battle between Harry and Him was how it should have been in the books. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Another actor worthy of praise was Alec Rickman. Now I didn’t cry through any of the film. I thought I would during the “I’m about to die” part, but apparently the book is more emotional there. But dame! I was almost shedding tears during Snape’s death and memories scenes. Those scenes were perfect. I couldn’t have asked for more.

I really need to see the movie again to get a complete opinion as I have mentioned before. Time to dissect things again….. But still 100% made of Win.

Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 thoughts *spoilers*

I'm back. ^^ 

I have to admit i didn't have as much fun as last time. Mainly because it seemed like every obnxious teenager or college kid came out. And i mean OBNOXIOUS!! They were doing flips down the aisles, talking loudly before and during the movie, and basically just reminding myself why i have never fit in with those my age. Mainly because as people said i'm a bit more mature than many of my age. I was not the only one annoyed. A few other people i talked to were tired of the obnoxious behavior as well. I ended sitting by a friends/sister/brother unsure pair which was nice. They guy asked for my email address afterwards. Don't know if anything will come of that. 

Anyways..... Here is myself minus my Gryffindor scarf before i left for the premiere. My hair matches the curtains. lol 

Hmmm i never thought i'd day this, but for the first time i didn't not love love a Harry Potter movie. Sure i've had issues in the past. The thing is that not at this level. Something just felt really really off. I think it'll be easier to explain if i did things in bullet points.

LOVED:

* DOBBY. OMG he was so freaking cute. I loved every moment he was on screen. I loved him in his sneakers.  He had so many brilliant one liners this time around that i couldn't stop laughing. His death scene was heart breaking as well.

* The seven potters. Brilliant. Dan is such a good comedy actor. He nailed the scene completely.

* Luna. Luna Luna Luna can never fail.

* The whole Remus/Tonks storyline was left out. *YA!S for them cutting this part out. No nutty Remus and Tonks only graced my screen for a few moments.

* The Harry & Hermione dance scene. It was so sweet.

* The scenery. AMAZING BALLS.

* The Doe scene. ^^

* Malfory Manor. Emma was brilliant in the torture scene. All of it went rather well.


LIKED

* The Ministry scenes. I didn't love love them, but i still liked them. ^^ Ron was whom really made them.

* X. Lovegood. Good scenes, but not one i'd watch again and again.

* The Tale of the Three Brothers. The animation was nice and unexpected. The thing is i don't like skeletons and it's hard for me to love love anything that features one.

*The wedding scenes.


DISAPPOINTED:

*Where the frick was Dean, the invisibility cloak, and Charlie weasley?

* No mention of Dumbledoors less than savory past. I really think this should have been included. It shows how Dumbledore could have gone the path Voldemort and the Ministry is going, but changed. It made him a more rounded character in the book and shows that people are possible of changing and the people aren't just good or bad. That many are in a gray area.

*Why no mention of Ariana?

*Poor poor Regulus Black. I really wish his tale would have been mentioned. It would have again shown that people are possible of changing.

*No Lily letter. How hard would have been to put it in for  a second.

*Grindlewald should have been explored more. Specially Albus and his relationship/friendship.

*Dobbys burial. That scene was so freaking moving in the book. I was teary. It wasn't nearly as dramatized as it needed to be in the movie.

*Wormtail lives??? He was supposed to repent.


can't say on the soundtrack though. As i said earlier I seemed to have gotten the theater with the most obnoxious high schoolers and college kids possible (says the 24 year old). Many talked through the movie. So i had trouble hearing it. Already ordered it though. 

All in all i have to see the movie again to get a full feel of it. I should be doing that next weekend or the week after.

Less than two days till release

                                                 Less than two days, 14 hours, and 11 minutes.  

   More than 300 pages to go in the book though. Tomorrow i'm going to have to read to no end.

Got your ticket yet? Fandango is saying theaters are 80% sold out for midnight showing. ^^ I've had my ticket for the midnight release for the last two weeks. ^^

Gryffindor Tie and Scarf from Tragic Mountain

I'm planning on going as a gryffindor student to the Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 1 and i'm in the middle of getting my outfit together.

I got a great deal from Tragic Mountain  on a Gryffindor Tie and scarf combo.The two were just $27.99 together. The tie is made of silk and fits all adults. And even those of us who are vertically challenged. It was brand new and still in the original HP merchandise packaging.  The scarf is wool and is about the size of a regular scarf. I've worn it around some and it's nice and warm. My only concern is that the Gryffindor patch doesn't seem to be all that secured on it.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Review

I haven't read this book in awhile and decided to read it again. Even though this book isn't one of my top three favorite harry potter books it shall always be special for me. This is because this was the very first harry potter book i had ever read from. It all started with me wanting to read the series, but my parents convinced that it was "the devils book". Well i finally got too when i was fifteen. I was babysitting a set of twins and they were reading this book for a bedtime story. So of course they wanted me to read the next three chapters to them. I started with the chapter called "mudblood and murmers" and read all the way past the deathday party. I had to be corrected a few times on pronunciation, but i soon became hooked. I ended up re-starting the book at the very beginning when i put the twins to bed and read for the next two hours. As soon as i got home i told my parents that i had read part of the second book and planned on getting the rest. Needless to say there was nothing they could do about it since i had already started the series. The next night my father went out and got the first movie on dvd and the rest is history. ^^ So i can officially claim this book and a set of twins was my entrance into the Harry Potter fandom. I'm still the only one in my family that has read the books though. 

This Harry Potter is really set more to a mystery than many of the other books. I say this because for most of the book Harry, Ron, and Hermione are only getting small clues into the mystery of the chamber of secrets and petrified people. It also flows more like a mystery than the other. Something i find rather funny since i believe McGonagall mentions that harry potter can't resist following on a mystery. 

In relation to the other books this was really setting things up for books 5-7. You have the first horcrux, the first glimps at voldemort's past, the introduction of the founders objects, the information the voldemort put some of himself into harry which becomes pivotal to the main storyline, volde's love of snakes, the mention that harry believes Snape can read his mind, and if you want to stretch things the early mentioning of death eaters. 

In regards to my thought they still remain the same as i said in my review for the first book. After reading and being a fan of the series for so long i now see it as a whole. Therefore it shall always be loved and get five Bunnies from me.

 

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone review

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone review

There is no point in putting a summary of the plot of this book because everyone and their brother has read it or heard about it. Therefore this review is most going to concentrate on my thoughts and stuff. 

I wish i could say I began my Harry Potter obsession with this book, but i can't. I actually read part of the second book first. Instead i can officially say that the movie adaptation of this book got my parents away from the belief that the series was "from the devil and evil". That's a long story and better saved for the review of the second book. I actually saw the movie of this before i read it so i kinda of knew the plot before hand. Therefore for those characters introduced up to book two the movie gave me my imagined characterization of them. 

Though i was sort of introduced to the magic through the movie i still fell head over heels in love with the series with the book. Mainly because it was the first Harry Potter adaption that i read fully. Books like this are rare. I can truthfully say that i have never read a book series before or after that comes close to what J.K. Rowling created. 

The Sorcerer's Stone really introduces the magic. You almost feel as Harry does learning everything about the magical world. It's breathtaking. I will be the first to admit that i wish the world was real so i could go and enjoy the magic. I'm that type of fangirl. ^^ 

The interesting thing about the book is that you can read it either as a author first learning to write or as the thoughts and perspective of a eleven year old boy. I prefer the later. This way you can read the series as a boy maturing in mind and thought. The writing is really simple in this book, but yet brilliant at the same time. 

I say brilliant i mean Brilliant. There are many one liners and thoughts that become major players later in the series. Some notable ones is the mention of Sirius Black, hints at the prophecy regarding Harry, the observation that Snape "really hates" Harry, Snape swooping around like an overgrown Bat, Harry's mouth touching the snitch, the Centaurus mentioning mars (the planet of war)hinting at the upcoming war, the hinting of immortality and Voldemort, the obvious harry understanding the snake, hagrid mentioning Lily's and James's friends, and a few others that i made mental notes, but forgotten (Might need to physically write them down next time). These drops just shows how great an author J.K.Rowling is. 

Nothing really much to say. After all. There are only so many times you can say "brilliant" without it becoming repetitive and redundant. 

So 5 stars with gold sparkles, fireworks, and marching bands. ^^
